For your convenience, we offer our mobile car locksmith, key cutting, and key programming services across the whole of WA, primarily in the Perth metro area and Mandurah. Please note, travel fees may apply.

What are the waiting times for your auto locksmiths?

Depending on your location, our arrival times will vary. We typically advise that it may take 1-2 hours for us to get out to you.

Will the locksmith damage my locks gaining access to my car?

Our automotive locksmiths are highly experienced and utilise professional tools that can open any lock without causing damage to your car when you are locked out of it.

How much do car locksmith services cost?

As each job is priced differently depending on what’s required and the type of vehicle you have, our auto locksmiths will provide you with a quote.

Can I get a final quote over the phone?

For the most part we can provide a quote over the phone. However, there may be some instances in which we cannot offer a quote until we see the car onsite.

What payment methods do you accept?

We offer a range of payment options for your convenience. These include Visa, Mastercard, debit card, cash, Afterpay and b2bpay. All vans carry mobile EFTPOS machines.

What are transponder keys?

The biggest change to the automotive industry in recent times has been the introduction of the built-in immobilise system on most cars manufactured since 1995 (late 94 in some cases). This involves placing a microchip in the head of the key, which is a miniature transmitter and receiver. There is an engine management system in the engine compartment that can recognise the signals transmitted from the key. If the correct signals are not detected the engine will not start.

These are transponder keys, which are now the most common type of lost car keys from Perth drivers.

How does a microchip work?

A microchip is an electronic chip with a permanent memory, which contains an electronic code.

Transponder keys have an antenna that can be interfaced with an external electronic control device. Through the antenna the device emits a fixed frequency signal. The transponder receives the signal and then transmits its electronic code, by means of special frequency modulations, to the control device. This is able to process the code. The transponder has no external input power supply (a passive system) - it receives the energy necessary to work from the signal emitted by the external control device (this is inductive coupling between the control device antenna and that of the transponder).

Smart Keys

A smart key allows the driver to keep the key fob in their pocket when unlocking, locking and starting the vehicle.

The key is identified via one of several antennas in the car's bodywork and a radio pulse generator in the key housing.

Depending on the system, the vehicle is automatically unlocked when the door handle, trunk release, or an exterior button is pressed.

Duplicate or Spare Car Keys & Replacement

Should you find yourself in a sticky situation with a broken, worn or lost car key, A1 Locksmiths provide excellent and fast key replacement services. As a cost-effective option for broken keys, we’ll create a shell key instead of replacing the whole key so that the internal programmed part of your original key can still be used.

Locked out of your car? It’s always a good idea to have car key duplicates or spare keys. Our expert Perth locksmiths provide an effective key cloning service that can duplicate most transponder keys. This also applies to non-remote keys for most makes and models.

The new innovation of aftermarket key products has hit A1 Locksmiths!

As a leading automotive locksmith in Perth, we’re proud to announce that we can now offer our valued customers aftermarket flip style remote keys styles for most common vehicles.

This is the newest development in car key programming by incorporating remote control access keys and interchangeable flip keys. Whether your vehicle has previously had a flip style remote key or not, we can now integrate the 2 systems using some of the most advanced technology barely available to the industry today.

This new advancement has provided us with more unique and very affordable services that we can provide to you!
